small things

Like you, I've felt like I've been in a holding zone for the past three months. New Zealand was in and out of lockdown in seven weeks but I've been having a hard time moving beyond staying mostly at home. I had been at a natural transition point when our lockdown started and found myself particularly at a loss for purpose during the weeks of quarantine.

We can feel like we're waiting for life to begin again, can't we?

Maybe we ARE living and we need to adjust how we're framing things. Not working for money, being burnt out and being on a trajectory of downward mobility over the past several years have been both hard and helpful for me in how I'm viewing the pandemic. I've come to appreciate the small things more as I've journeyed to a more simple life.

I know it's hard when simplicity and limits are imposed on us, but maybe what the world needs is a perspective change.
