sweet goodness of God

For most of my faith journey, my experience of God was intellectual, relational and in my inner being - definitely all good things. But it wasn't until I moved to this little patch of land that my understanding deepened.
Psalm 34:8 says, "Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him."
How odd that the Psalmist would use the sense of taste to encourage knowing God's goodness. Then I helped hand process honey. I had used a manual honey extractor before, but this "old-fashioned" way had me wrist deep in honey as I squeezed honey from pieces of the comb through a muslin cloth.

Honey is a magical product. Somehow bees organise themselves into colonies and fly up to 5km to collect pollen which they then digest and --ahem-- excrete into honey. If you pay attention, the flavours change throughout the season and to reflect the type of flowers and bushes that are in the area.
Tasting this honey was a visceral reminder of God's abundance, creativity, delight, joy and sweetness.
